Please remember the following requirements:  Receiving blankets in flannel should be approximately 36” x 36” but no smaller.  The baby blankets must be approximately 48” x 48” in baby friendly colors and all toddler to teen blankets must be approximately 48” x 60” or longer in kid friendly colors.  I know most material does not come in 48” width, as long as you can make the blanket 44” or 45” it will be okay.  A good rule of thumb is the blankets should be around 45” x 45” or longer and as always in baby and kid friendly colors.

Right now I have a huge need for fleece blankets for kids, toddler and older, for both girls and boys!  They need to be made from 100% polyester or no-pill fleece.  Please make the blankets at least 45” x 60” in colorful kid friendly colors (don’t forget the older kids).  The blankets can either be crocheted around the edges, using the bunny ear method or knotted.

I want you to know how much I appreciate every one of you for making blankets.  We are going through some really tough times right now and more than ever kids need a hug and your beautiful blankets are giving the kids (and parents) just what they need!!  Thank you!  Thank you!

I received a couple of thank you cards:

“Project Linus, Thank you so much for donating these blankets to our kiddos.  This small act of kindness goes so far in assisting our kiddos.  They absolutely love the blankets and are very grateful.  Thank you again and happy holidays.  Warmly, Utah Behavior Services”

“Project Linus – Thank you so much for all the beautiful blankets and quilts!  They were taken to NICU who was beyond thrilled to receive them .  Thank you again.  McKay Dee Hospital”

Even though I do not receive a lot of thank you notes, the nurses are thrilled to see the blankets because their patients love them.  I even get comments when I am walking into the facilities from people walking by because they can see the colorful blankets from the bags.  You guys are very much appreciated and people are amazed at your generosity and thoughtfulness.

As always, if you have questions, please call me.  I love talking with you.

Please make sure you cut all writing from the selvages of the fabric before you start making the blankets.  That includes the rolled edge on the fleece blankets.

Summer 2021

Fellow Blanketeers,

Since the beginning of 2021, over 500 blankets have been delivered. 60,899 blankets have been delivered since our Chapter began!   We have added Sleep in Heavenly Peace of Logan and the Ogden-Weber Community Action Partnership (OWCAP) Early Head Start Program to our places to donate.  With your help, in September we will be delivering blankets for their Head Start Program (kids 3 to 5 years old.)  They have requested ~600 blankets for their fall program!  I told them we have a great Chapter and that we would be happy to support them!!!  Please see the attached flyer for all the information.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace provides beds and bedding for kids that have been sleeping on the floor.  They were very appreciative of the twin blankets and pillow cases.

Thanks to Caroline we now have a blog that you can go to for information on our Chapter.  The address is https://northutahprojectlinus.blogspot.com/

We are also on Facebook under the Northern Utah Project Linus group.

Fundraising is a requirement of all Chapters so the Project Linus Headquarters has established an easy way to help us.  Just copy the link below to get started.  Please remember to donate to our Northern Utah Chapter.

Once we have supported the Ogden and Weber area Head Start Programs, I will be contacting the other Head Start Programs within our Chapter.  We can then start supporting them with your beautiful blankets.

I wanted you to know that I get a lot of oohs and ahhs when I deliver your blankets to the different donation places.  Thank you so much for all your hard work.  I am always amazed at the time and love you put into each blankets.  I love bragging about the blankets!

I want to thank you in advance for helping with the Special Project for the Head Start Program.  The kids will really enjoy new blankets for their cots.

Please remember to remove all loose threads from the blankets before you deliver them.  It will help me a lot as I get the blankets ready to be delivered.

January 2021

Fellow Blanketeers,

Well, we did it.  We survived 2020.  Even though deliveries were down, you guys came through and donated 1,280 beautiful blankets.  Our Chapter delivered 703 blankets to the community.  We have now delivered 60,396 blankets since our Chapter began!   A special thanks to Kayla, Kathy, Melanie, Clo, Jean, Cindy and Pat for helping me label the blankets!

All the hospitals are now accepting blankets.  McKay Dee and Layton Hospitals now have specific requirements.  The baby blankets must be approximately 48” x 48” in baby friendly colors and all toddler to teen blankets must be approximately 48” x 60” or longer in kid friendly colors.  I know most material does not come in 48” width, as long as you can make the blanket 44” or 45” it will be okay.

The other hospitals do not have a size requirement but it is best that the blankets are around 45” x 45” or longer and as always in baby and kid friendly colors.  I am always in need of receiving blankets in flannel which are approximately 36” x 36”.

Right now I have a huge need for fleece blankets for kids, toddler and older, for both girls and boys!  They need to be made from 100% polyester or no-pill fleece.  Please make the blankets at least 45” x 60” in colorful; kid friendly colors (don’t forget the older kids).  The blankets can either be crocheted around the edges, using the bunny ear method or knotted.

I am getting quite a few requests for the fleece blankets.  However, I also love giving the quilted, tied or knitted/crocheted blankets to the different locations. It amazes me the time and love you put into making the blankets.  The nurses tell me the kids just love the blankets they receive!

I want you to know how much I appreciate every one of you for making blankets.  We are going through some really tough times right now and more than ever kids need a hug and your beautiful blankets are giving the kids (and parents) just what they need!!  Thank you!  Thank you!

I will start delivering blankets to the Office of Guardian ad Litem in February.  They are attorneys who represent the best interest of children and teens in cases of alleged abuse, neglect and dependency in the juvenile courts.  I will know better in the future what their specifics needs are.  I am told there are many kids just in the Farmington/Ogden area that could use a hug from our blankets.

Last but not least, we have a new Blanketeer in town who has been involved with Project Linus since 1998.   Her name is Caroline and she is helping set up a blog and Facebook page for our Chapter!!  She also has taught classes on different techniques using fleece; crocheting borders and crocheting scraps together.  Stay tuned!

Newsletter, Summer 2020

Fellow Blanketeers,

I hope this newsletter finds you all healthy, happy and safe!  It has been a strange, strange year to say the least but I wanted to touch base with you and let you I have been thinking of you and am grateful for the blankets you have made and will make in the future.

This year we have met a couple of milestones in Project Linus.  Our Northern Utah Chapter has now donated over 60 thousand blankets since 2006!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  Also, Project Linus nationwide has delivered over 8 million blankets!  That is a lot of hugs for kids who need them.

Even though it is slow because of COVID-19, I am still accepting blankets and delivering them to all hospitals and organizations except for the McKay Dee and Layton Hospital.  Also, all drop off locations are open and accepting your blankets.

I’m not sure if everyone is aware but Project Linus has a website projectlinus.org and they are also on Facebook.  There is also a store on the Project Linus website where you can pick up Project Linus things.  Four times a year they will be offering T-Shirts for you to buy.

Thank you all for your support of Project Linus.  Your blankets are absolutely gorgeous and I am proud to deliver them.
